V Kaboom

V Kaboom

They are utilizing a very similar style to what we are using. perhaps we can use them as a case study for our own design. Oddly enough we had settled on this style about a week prior to the re-release of Kaboom.

I think theirs is working because of the use of black and white with the few colours that pop. It would be too bust if the illustrations were all full colour. Also the motion lines just draw your eye to the centre of them. It makes the compositions engaging and dynamic. The slant in the comic box similar to the one i was using in my initial posters adds to the dynamism. layering the can on top of the kaboom on top of the pull the pin adds depth of field. They have also used the angluar cut frame and the cape motif.

I think what we can learn from this is to keep it simple, don't over clutter the frame. Draw the attention to the hero of the image with everything around it. Emphasis only the important details with colour, Which i think we already were doing.
